Virtual document storage is a great way to store personal documents online and make them accessible in the event of a catastrophe such as fire or burglary. It’s a great method to share important documents with family members and friends and also with key users like lawyers or accountants. It is possible to store data electronically and avoid the expense of physical filing cabinets or other materials to file.
Secure file storage systems automate the various processes and tasks associated with managing files, making them easier to share and manage. They can increase productivity, streamline compliance and cut operational costs.
When a parent document includes OLE links to the component files, WorkSpace creates a special type of virtual file called a compound document. The document is unique in its set of attributes, APIs and special objects. The author of a virtual document has control over the logical ordering of its components and changes in the order of these files are visible in the logical structure of the compound document.
This is helpful in documents that have multiple authors, or when the order of the files in the document is important for its authors. A component of a virtual document can also be early bound to a version label so that the component is accessible as that version. This replaces any late bindings that could be applied to the document.
